The Young Entrepreneurs Financial Literacy Handbook, 2ND EDITION ENTREPRENEURSHIP was written to support a performance-based financial literacy program.  It can be designed around an ongoing business.  In seminars, participants are taught basic entrepreneurship, finance, and accounting skills needed to operate a business.  The business could be a school store, concession stand, or kiosk that acts as a learning laboratory. Participants collect and analyze data on information such as sales and inventory to prepare financial statements.  Data may also be obtained from neighborhood businesses. Local entrepreneurs are encouraged to participate.

Each topic begins with objectives. There is an essential question which does not have a right or wrong answer but gives the participants something to think about as they go through the topic.

The warm-up is a review of the previous topic. Topic highlights provide key information on each topic along with definitions. The activities and assessments were written to align with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). These are the standards used to assess student achievement.  Each topic ends with a wrap-up activity which summarizes the information presented while covering the topic.
